The Victorians painted them black and white, but the actual buildings date back to medieval times. The half-timbered villages and cider orchards of Herefordshire make a wonderful cycling area. There are plenty of village inns, teashops and historic houses to visit.

A very adaptable tour for groups of friends or families - with something to please everyone. Your first night is spent in Presteigne on the River Lugg. Your second night in Weobley, Dilwyn or Kingsland, all classic Black and White villages. Remember to visit Jules restaurant –voted as one of the best places to eat by our cyclists.

Easy to moderate cycling suitable for all ages and abilities. Mainly flat with a few short steep bits. Total 44 miles/ 71km. Opportunities for longer rides each day.

Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Presteigne. 15 miles/ 24km. Cycle on idyllic country lanes and cross the River Lugg to cycle into Wales. Presteigne is home to the unique Judges Lodging museum and many arts events; ÒSheep MusicÓ a world music festival in July, and a classical music festival in August.

Day 2. Presteigne to the Black & White villages. 12-21 miles (19-34km). Easy cycling in the water meadows & valleys of the Lugg and Arrow. Unique half-timbered architecture in all the villages; Weobley is a classic Black & White village, at Pembridge visit the market hall, grand bell tower, Dunkerton's cider farm, and of course the New Inn (only 600 years old) and visit the medieval dovecots at Eardisland and Luntley.

Day 3. Black & White Villages to Petchfield Farm 8-17 miles (13-27km). On your last cycling day there are two grand National Trust houses to visit; Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Remember to stop at Yarpole church for coffee, their bell tower is one of the oldest timber structures in the UK.

Finishing any time in the afternoon, back at Petchfield Farm.
