Following the River Lugg along quiet country lanes to the historic & unspoilt town of Presteigne. Further into Wales is the unique 17th century Abracadabra charm hidden away in a church in Old Radnorshire. Return the next day via the River Arrow and the ancient National Trust Castle at Croft.

 

Easy cycling- mainly following river valleys with the occasional short steep bit. Total 35 miles/ 56km. Opportunities for longer rides each day.

 

Arrive at your accommodation for your first nights stay in Ludlow or the Teme Valley. Ludlow is a medieval fortified town with a magnificent Norman castle. Lots of things to see and do, good inns and restaurants, including two with Michelin stars.

 

Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Presteigne. 15 miles/24km. You are fitted out with your bike & equipment. Cycle on idyllic country lanes and cross the River Lugg into Wales. Follow one of our suggested cycle tours to explore the surrounding countryside.... and find that Abracadabra Charm. Presteigne is also home to the unique Judges Lodging museum and many arts events, including ÒSheep MusicÓ, a world music festival in July and the unique electric Bike event ÒTour de PresteigneÓ.

 

Day 2. Presteigne to Petchfield Farm. 20 miles/ 32km. Return to Petchfield via the water meadows of the River Arrow. At Pembridge sample cider at Dunkerton's cider farm, or visit EardislandÕs medieval dovecot next to the picturesque River Lugg. You can make a short detour to visit the National Trust properties of Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Finishing any time in the afternoon, back at Petchfield Farm
