A cycling challenge, with spectacular views - taking you
across the hills and ancient track way of the Kerry Ridgeway and OffaÕs
Dyke. Staying at Clun and the Border town of BishopÕs Castle. BishopÕs
Castle has two award winning brewery pubs and a very good reputation for
food.
The distance cycled each day is up to 24miles/ 38km,
with a spectacular off road section on day two. Total 63miles/ 101km.
Opportunities for longer rides each day.
Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Clun. 20miles/ 32km. Cycle to
Clun, along one of our favourite routes, following the Rivers Teme and
Redlake. A wonderful route along idyllic valley lanes past a string of
picturesque villages, gradually leading you up through the hills. Plenty of
inns & teashops, (alternative routes take you further up the Teme valley
30miles/48km).
Day 2. Clun to BishopÕs Castle via the Kerry Ridgeway.
24miles/ 38km. This is a superb route, which really does take you off the
beaten track. A Bronze Age track way, ancient fortifications, OffaÕs Dyke,
and fabulous views across Wales to Cader Idris on the Welsh Coast.
Day 3. Bishops Castle to Petchfield Farm. 20miles/
32km. An easy cycling day, pass by Clive of India's former home, the ruins
of Hopton Castle and a 1930Õs traditional tearoom. Lunch at a riverside
inn, or a unique Òparlour pubÓ– unchanged for a 100 years. Round off
your day with a visit to the grand Wigmore Castle.
