We are here: Petchfield Farm is on the English Welsh border, next to the Medieval town of Ludlow. Easy access by road or rail, and within close reach of Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham and Manchester airports.

BY RAIL TO LUDLOW

Ludlow is on the main line train service between Newport and Manchester. Useful contact details:

You can also book train tickets via Ludlow Station Travel tel. 01584 877090

From London - an hourly service from London (Paddington station), change at Newport. Journey time 3.5 hours.

From Heathrow - direct train link to London (Paddington station). Alternatively take ‘RailAir’ bus link to Reading from Heathrow every 20 mins (journey 45 mins). This misses out London and connects directly to the mainline service to Newport/Ludlow. RailAir Details from GWR railways 

From Birmingham - an hourly service from Birmingham International or Birmingham New Street. Changing at Shrewsbury. Journey time 1.5 hours 

From Manchester - an hourly service from Manchester Piccadilly (usually direct but sometimes need to change at Crewe). Journey time 2 hours.

BY AIR
The nearest international airports are Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff & Bristol with scheduled flights to and from America and many European hubs. A larger choice of flights and destinations is available into London Heathrow and London Gatwick. All airports have direct connections into the rail network. See “By Rail to Ludlow” for details.

From London and the South East.  From the M25 take the M40 to Birmingham. Continue on the M42 (west) and join the M5 south to junction 5. Take the A38 to Droitwich - A4133 to Ombersley & Holt Heath - A443 to Newnham Bridge - A456 to Woofferton. Turn right (north) on the A49 - B4361 to Ludlow. As you approach Ludlow on the B4361, take the sharp left towards Wigmore, just before the Charlton Arms Hotel. (Don’t be tempted to take the short cut from Woofferton to Elton via Richard’s Castle - everybody gets lost!). Journey time 2.5 hours from the M25.

From Manchester and the North of England  From the M6 take the M56 west to junction 10. Turn south on the A49 to Whitchurch - Shrewsbury - Ludlow. Take the first slip road into Ludlow; go through Ludlow on Corve Street and Old Street. Cross the river Teme at Ludford Bridge and turn immediately right towards Wigmore (just past the Charlton Arms Hotel). Journey time 2 hours from the M6.

From Bristol and the South West  Take the M5 north to junction 6. Turn left on the duel carriageway - A449 to Ombersley - A4133 to Holt Heath - A443 to Newnham Bridge - A456 to Woofferton. Turn right (north) on the A49 - B4361 to Ludlow. As you approach Ludlow on the B4361, take the sharp left towards Wigmore, just before the Charlton Arms Hotel. (Don’t be tempted to take the short cut from Woofferton to Elton via Richard’s Castle - everybody gets lost!). Journey time 2 hours from Bristol.

From Ludlow  Take the Ludlow to Wigmore road (from the B4361 next to the Charlton Arms). Continue on this road through Mortimer’s Forest and down into the valley for 5 miles. Go through the hamlet of Elton. Petchfield Farm is on your left, 100 metres after the left turn to Richard’s Castle. Journey time 10 mins

From Hereford  Take the A4110 north to Wigmore. At Wigmore turn right towards Ludlow (by the Oak Inn). Go through Leinthall Starkes. Petchfield Farm is half a mile after Leinthall Starkes on the right hand side. Journey time 30 mins.
