Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Leintwardine
Cycle to Leintwardine, following the River Teme on an idyllic lane. Explore the Teme valley towards Wales and Offa's Dyke. Stop for coffee at Brampton Bryan with its amazing yew hedge or cycle to Hopton Castle for afternoon tea. Total 5 - 28 miles (8 - 45km)
Day 2. Leintwardine to Hay on Wye
Cycle through the glorious countryside of North Herefordshire to cross the River Lugg at Presteigne which marks the border with Wales. Presteigne is home to the unique Judges Lodging museum. From Presteigne, head to the market town of Kington to visit the spectacular Hergest Croft Gardens. Next cycle over Brilley Mountain (don't miss National Trust's Cwmmau Farmhouse on its special open days) and down to the River Wye . Hay on Wye is a lovely town, famed for its bookshops, castle and literary festival. Total 33 miles (53 km).
Day 3. Hay on Wye to Brecon
Cycle around the base of the Black Mountains to the mystical Llangorse Lake (with its ancient Crannog), and on into the Cathedral town of Brecon. Brecon is a lively town, with a canal & waterside theatre, & local museums celebrating Brecons military links. Total 20 miles (32 km)
Day 4. Brecon to Crickhowell
Plenty of time to explore Brecon, then take a leisurely cycle ride along the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal - one of the most beautiful sections of canal in the country. Detour to explore the Talybont Reservoir (extra 14 miles). The ride ends at Crickhowell’s superb bridge (Wales longest bridge). Crickhowell is a grand Georgian coaching town with a reputation for good eating places. Total 16 miles (26 km)
Day 5. Crickhowell to Hay on Wye
A challenging day. Cycle up the Vale of Ewyas to the picturesque ruins of Llanthony Abbey (the Abbey Hotel is a great place for lunch). Then continue over Gospel Pass for fantastic views from Hay Bluff and a great downhill ride into Hay on Wye. Total 29 miles (47 km)
Day 6. Hay on Wye to Weobley
Plenty of time to explore Hay and all those bookshops before you start the easy ride through the Black & White villages of North Herefordshire, with their half timbered architecture. Visit Weobley’s tearooms, Dunkerton’s cider farm, the New Inn (only 600 years old) and unique church bell tower in Pembridge. Total 16 miles (25 km)
Day 7. Weobley to Petchfield Farm
On your last cycling make a short detour to treat yourself to a Grand National Trust tea at Berrington Hall, then return to Petchfield Farm along the edge of the Mortimer Forest. Finishing any time in the afternoon, back at Petchfield Farm. Total 18 -24 miles (29-39 km)
